About the event

You're invited to Halstead Hill Farm for a farm walk with agri-ecologist Professor Chris Stoate. Chris will highlight examples of land management for wildlife alongside food production. Enjoy sweeping views over High Leicestershire and time to learn and ask questions about the opportunities and challenges of wildlife conservation at farm and landscape scales. The tour includes an innovative agroforestry system with fruit, nut and willow trees, a young native woodland, water friendly farming with ponds, scrapes and ditches, wildflower margins, herbal leys and other habitats created within current government agri-environment schemes to benefit our natural heritage.

Chris, an agri-environmental researcher at the nearby Allerton Project for more than thirty years and Honorary Professor at Nottingham University, has also studied farmland ecology in southern Europe and West Africa. Chris also keeps bees and honey from the farm will be on sale.
