On our hedgelaying course you will have:
- a brief introduction to the ancient art of hedgelaying
- learn what hedgelaying involves
- when to hedge-lay and how
- the opportunity to lay your own section of hedge.
You will be using mainly hand tools such as axes and bill-hooks though some modern tools such as bow saws and loppers may be used occasionally. We will provide all the tools that you need but if you have any hedge-laying tools bring them along. They may be useful. This is a very practical course so stout footwear and rough gardening clothes are recommended plus waterproofs. A peaked cap can be very useful too.
The course takes place over Saturday and Sunday from 09.30 until 16.00. Please bring your own pack lunch and plenty of water to drink.
Please note: If the weather becomes particularly bad on either day and we judge it is unsafe to use the tools, the course may finish ahead of schedule.
