Located at the internationally famous Rutland Water Nature Reserve, our Volunteer Training Centre is an idyllic place to meet with colleagues, inspire your team or gather members of your community group.

Just 2 miles from Oakham’s train and bus stations, the Volunteer Training Centre is within easy reach of public transport and is just a short drive from the A1, A47 and A606. Our car park has space for up to 40 cars (4 spaces are reserved for blue badge holders).

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.

Training Room

The main training room is located on the ground floor and is our largest meeting space, seating up to 40 people (theatre style). This multifunctional space could accommodate workshops, larger meetings or seminars, training sessions or talks.

Audio visual equipment, laptop and laser pointer, lectern and flip charts are all available on request.

Upstairs Meeting Space

Our upstairs meeting space can accommodate up to 20 people boardroom style and boasts a stunning view overlooking the reserve’s lagoon 4. Complete with a three seater-sofa, two armchairs and coffee table this room is ideal for smaller groups wishing to meet in a more informal setting or make the most of the extra special view to inspire your team.

Audio visual equipment, laptop and laser pointer, lectern and flip charts are all available on request.

Please note that the upstairs meeting room is accessed via a flight of stairs. At the moment we are unable to offer a stair lift facility but hope to be able to in the future. The ground floor of the building is fully accessible, complete with accessible toilet and wet room.

Additional Information

We offer a 25% discount for charities and community groups plus organisations offering skills training on the day.

We are unable to offer a catering facility but are happy to provide details of local companies who can help.

Access to the nature reserve is by permit only. If you would like to walk out on the reserve you will need to purchase a permit at an additional cost.

Terms and Conditions

Bookings

Advance bookings are required. A minimum of one week’s notice is preferred but clients are advised to give as much notice as possible.

A provisional booking will be held for a maximum of two weeks and if unconfirmed will be released without notice. This will be paid by invoice.

Should you wish to change the date of your event, it will be at the discretion of the Volunteer Training Centre staff.

All prices are correct at the time of quoting and are subject to change without notice. All prices agreed on a confirmed booking with a deposit paid will be honoured.

Cancellations

If a cancellation should arise, the client should immediately advise the Volunteer Training Centre staff in writing or by email. Cancellations made 2 weeks before the booking date will attract a 25% charge.  Cancellations within 1 week will be payable at the full rate of the booking.

Due to circumstances beyond the Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust’s control it may be necessary to change or cancel your booking. Where the change is considered major, as decided by the Trust, you will be offered the option to accept the change or to receive a full refund of any monies paid against the booking. The Trust is not responsible for any other costs, expenses or damages which may have been incurred by the client or their guests as a result of the change.

State & Repair

The Client will be given access to the facilities in a fit and reasonable state and will be responsible for returning the facility to a similar condition. Failure to do so will result in a charge to the Client for remedial cleaning work, etc.

Please report any breakages or damage to the relevant member of staff immediately. The client will be responsible for any damage caused to the facilities by a delegate involved in a careless act and must pay the total amount required to make good any such damage. The Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to the client’s property or that of their guests.

Health & Safety

You must keep the building and its occupant’s safe and secure by adhering to the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust’s health and safety guidelines, procedures and instruction.

The building is an alcohol free zone. Please do not keep or drink alcohol on the premises.

The building and surrounding area is a smoke free zone. Please do not smoke inside the building or within the site’s boundaries. E-cigarettes may be smoked outside the building, however please be considerate of other people.
